What We Believe

WE AGREE WITH THIS PERSPECTIVE STATED BY A SAINT OF LONG AGO:
"In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity.

Our Central Beliefs

The following are our central beliefs that are found in six vital areas:

God

We believe God is the Creator (Gen.1:1), is Eternal (Psalm 90:2), is Ever-Present (Acts 17:32), is Spirit (John 4:24), is Personal (John 1:14), is Holy (1 Peter 1:12-16), is Love (1 John 4:8), and is Triune (1 Pet.1:2; 1 Tim.3:16; Phil. 2:6-8; Acts 5:3-4).

Humankind

We believe humankind is made in God’s Spiritual, Moral and Personal Image, created distinctively as male or female (Gen. 1:26-27), but has inherited a sinful nature due to disobedience (Rom.5:12; Rom. 3:23), and apart from God’s salvation is alienated from God (Eph. 2:1-5, 12) and totally unable on his/her own to remedy their fallen condition (Rom.3:10; Luke 13:1-4).

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus is the only Savior (Acts 4:12; John 14:6), Who was prophesied that He would come and die for the sins of the world (Isa. 53). We believe that Jesus is the eternal Son of God who became man (1 Tim.3:16), without ceasing to be God (John 1:1, 14; Phil. 2:6-8), was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men. (Isa. 7:14; 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; 2 Cor. 5:19-21; Gal. 4:4-5; Phil. 2:5-8).

Salvation

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross where He took our place; and, that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. (Acts 2:18-36; Rom. 3:24-25; 1 Pet. 2:24; Eph. 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3-5).

Salvation is the gracious gift of God given to us when we repent and put personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, at which time we are regenerated by the power of the Holy Spirit through faith in God’s Word, becoming the recipient of a new nature (John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-10; 1 Pet. 1:18-19; Matt. 12:31-32; 1 John 1:9; Titus 3:5; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

Scripture

We believe the Sacred Writings of the Old and New Testament are God-breathed and are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man and are the final & sufficient authority for faith and life. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; Psalm 19:7-11).

The Church

We believe that the local church is the Body of Christ on earth, and is solely made up of born-again, baptized followers. (Acts 2:38-42; 1 Cor. 12:12-14; 2 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22-23; 5:25-27) We believe the mission of the local church is found ultimately in the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20): First, to make individual disciples (evangelize), second, to build up the local church (edify) (Eph.4:11-16), and third to reach others and instruct as Jesus has commanded (expansion) (Acts 1:8).
